Es muy común en ingeniería, arquitectura, tecnología y automoción. “ponerle mejoras nuevas a algo viejo”. Añadir componentes nuevos a un sistema antiguo para mejorarlo. No es simplemente “reparar” o “arreglar”. Es mejorar algo que ya existe, normalmente para cumplir normas nuevas o para hacerlo más eficiente.
